
As per the Income-tax Act, when an Income tax return is filed electronically without a digital signature, the taxpayer is required to verify the same within 120 days from the date of uploading ITR. If not done, the return is considered to be invalid and the provisions of not filing return shall apply.
However, CBDT has announced a one-time relaxation allowing taxpayers to verify returns before 30.09.2020 for AY 2015-16, AY 2016-17, AY 2017-18, AY 2018-19 & AY 2019-20 if the returns were filed within the due date. One can verify the returns now if it was not done earlier and can avoid penalties.
The following modes can be opted for verification of return:-
Through Aadhaar OTP
By logging into e-filing account through net banking.
EVC through Bank Account Number.
EVC through Demat Account Number.
EVC through Bank ATM.
By sending a duly signed physical copy of ITR-V through the post to CPC, Bengaluru.
